Better Boy’s consistency stamped with another win

 

Better Boy reaffirmed his consistency with an emphatic win at Awapuni on Boxing Day over 2300m. The win follows a hat trick of second placings.

 

The Centaine 5yold’s next assignment is likely to be the 2000m Taupo Cup in preparation for the Wellington Cup meeting.

C P Farm mare maintains 100% strike rate

 

CPFarm broodmare Aces and Deuces (Full On Aces ex. Field Mouse (Valinsky)) maintained her 100% strike rate when Grande Vue Magic won over 2100m at Counties today. Grande Vue Magic is the 5th winner produced by the mare.

 

The Magic Of Sydney gelding was sold by CPFarm as a weanling and showed a sustained finish to win impressively by 4 lengths going away from the field.

 

Aces And Deuces, a ¾ sister to Australian St Ledger winner FULL AT LAST, has previously produced Better Boy. Her dam Field Mouse is a half sister to Betty Box (dam of ALYNDA).

 

Aces And Deuces is booked to Black Minnaloushe this season.

Black Market Wins at Rotorua

 

The CPFarm produced Justice Prevails gelding Black Market won the HEPBURN ELECTRICAL HWT INT HWT 1900m at Rororua today for long time client John Wood.

 

Reared and broken in at CPFarm, the Sheryl & Roger McGlade trained horse was ridden by stable apprentice Kara Waters.

 

CPFarm have bred and have available for lease a 3yold Magic of Sydney half sister to Black Market, and intend to eventually utilize this filly for breeding purposes. Black Market’s first dam MARKET (Imperial Prince ex WITH RESPECT (by Rego)) is a half-sister to sire MONAKEA from the family of derby winner MANSINGH. His 3rd dam is the Star Kingdom mare Starquita.

Weekend Double for CP Farm reared horses

 

Two horses reared by CP Farm had winning appearances at Rotorua and Wellington this weekend.

 

Parliament (Volksraad ex. Never Bluffs (by Molokai Prince)) fought gamely to hold off his rivals in the intermediate 1200m at the Rotorua Cup meeting yesterday, winning gamely by ¾ of a length. Co-trainer Andrew Scott commented that there should be plenty more wins in store. Dam Never Bluffs is resident at CP Farm.

 

Kashani Heights (Kashani ex. Theydon Bois(by Racing Is Fun)) is owned by a syndicate including long time client and ex. Avondale Jockey Club committee member Rod Gibson. Kashani Heights powered home in the maiden mile to out stay her rivals and win by 3 lengths. Gibson also raced her dam Theydon Bois who won 7 races from the Moroney stable, and was sold as a broodmare by CP Farm. Kashani Heights is a regular boarder when spelling at CP Farm.

Egyptian Ra sold to Hong Kong

 

The former CP Farm reared and consigned star two year old Egyptian Ra has been on sold to Hong Kong interests, and will be training in Hong Kong by leading trainer John Size.

 

The sale continues the successful association that breeder, part owner, and trainer Kenny Rae has had as with the progeny of dam Egyptian Queen.

 

Egyptian Ra’s purchase price is reported to be a substantial six figure sum not dissimilar to the Million dollar sale of his G1 winning ½ sister Egyptian Reign – who has gone on to perform at G1 level in Australia.

 

Egyptian Ra sold to Hong Kong

New Zealand’s best maiden, dual group one-placed two-year-old Egyptian Ra, has been sold to Hong Kong.

 

The sale of the Kenny Rae-trained gelding to clients of leading Hong Kong trainer John Size was confirmed yesterday.

 

Egyptian Ra has been placed in each of his five starts, the last two of which produced a second in the Ellerslie Sires’ Produce Stakes and third in the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes. He is currently spelling and will enter quarantine in a week’s time prior to flying to Hong Kong.

 

The Woodborough gelding is a half-brother to the class sprinting mare Egyptian Raine, who was sold to Australia from the Rae stable early last year after winning the Railway Stakes at Ellerslie and finishing second in the country’s other group one handicap sprint, the Telegraph Handicap at Trentham.

 

Since then Egyptian Raine has taken her stake-earnings past the $1 million mark with two wins at group two level, one at group three and two second placings at group one. The last of those was behind Private Steer in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick and the Desert Sun mare is now in Brisbane for feature sprint events.

 

Ken Rae, his wife Lisa and their partners in the Karioi Lad mare Egyptian Queen have a rising two-year-old sister to Egyptian Ra as well as a Volksraad foal due in the spring to look forward to. The 15-year-old mare, whose Al Akbar three-year-old Keep On Easy is a winner in Hong Kong, will visit either Stravinsky or Faltaat this breeding season.

Egyptian Ra’s Group 1 double

 

Multiple group 1 performer Egyptian Ra has given a vote of confidence in the early education practices at CP Farm. Reared, and consigned at the Karaka yearling sales by CP Farm, Egyptian Ra ran third in the Group 1 $120,000 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Awapuni after earlier running second in the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes at Ellerslie.

 

Egyptian Ra has come third in the Ford Champion two year old series in New Zealand confirmed his super two year old status.

 

Egyptian Ra (by Woodborough) and his dam Egyptian Queen are currently resident at CP Farm.

Brave Striker Sold to Hong Kong

 

Brave Striker has been sold to Hong Kong interests by part owner Michael Steadman.

 

Bred and sold by CP Farm, and trained by Lance Noble in Matamata, Brave Striker built his reputation as an early two year old - winning his trials in succession. It was as a three year old that Brave Striker confirmed his early ability through two impressive wins from his last three starts.

 

Brave Striker is now named Strike to Win (HK).

Better Boy win fresh up at Ellerslie Premier meeting

Seventeen hand giant better boy might have only beaten a small maiden field in the mud at Ellerslie, but co-trainer Andrew Scott is predicting big things for him. “I think he is a top class stayer in the making”, Scott said after the colossus swept home from back and wide in the P K Cathro 1600 yesterday.

 

“…he has speed and stamina, and a bit of class” Scott said….
